Invisalign Consultation Q & A

What happens during an Invisalign® consultation?

An Invisalign® consultation occurs prior to treatment so you can understand what's generally involved in treatment as well as what to expect during your specific treatment. The consultation appointment is an ideal time to learn about the alignment and occlusion issues you're facing, as well as to ask questions about your care and the Invisalign® process. It's designed to ensure you feel completely confident about your care, every step of the way.

Can Invisalign® be used to treat all kinds of orthodontic issues?

No, while Invisalign® can be used to address many kinds of orthodontic issues, including crowding, overbites, underbites and crossbites, there are some instances where it simply is not the best choice to achieve ideal results. If Invisalign® is not a good choice for you, don't worry – there are plenty of other options, including virtually undetectable ceramic braces and lingual braces that attach to the backs of teeth so they're completely invisible.

Can Invisalign treatment be used for kids as well as adults?

Yes, Invisalign® offers a product called Invisalign® Teen, which is designed specifically for younger patients whose adult molars have not finished erupting.

What if Invisalign® is not the best choice for my needs? What are my alternatives?

Alternatives include traditional metal braces, ceramic braces and lingual braces that attach to the rear surfaces of teeth. You may also need more extensive treatment to correct serious alignment or occlusion issues. Even if you're a good candidate for Invisalign®, you may decide to opt for a different treatment that you feel is better suited to your lifestyle or your budget.

Is Invisalign® more costly than traditional braces?

Yes, Invisalign® tends to cost more than traditional metal braces; your dental insurance plan may cover a portion of the costs, and we can also help you set up a payment plan or find financing solutions that can help make your treatment more affordable.
